A.H. Harris Hosts Construction Supply Vendor Expo; Celebrates Business Success

In an effort to build stronger relationships, learn about what’s new in the construction industry, and recognize associate excellence, A. H. Harris hosted its “Summit, University, and Vendor Expo.” The one-day event, which was held on March 1 at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass., was attended by 200 associates and more than 100 construction suppliers from across the country.

The vendors participated in the trade-show style expo to display a wide variety of supplies, tools and equipment that are used on building sites serviced by Harris.  They welcomed this chance to meet face-to-face with the Harris associates who they communicate with regularly by phone and e-mail.  Harris staff met with each of the vendors, helping solidify valued relationships and improve their knowledge of new and existing products.

During the Summit, Harris also recognized 21 associates who have excelled in their area of expertise including drivers, operations, financial and technical specialists, new associates, inside sales and account managers.  Special Humanitarian Awards were presented to three associates for their extraordinary efforts to help victims of Super Storm Sandy, and branch locations that achieved 1,000 Accident Free Days were honored for their focus on safety in their workplace.

“Every day, Harris benefits from the energy, creativity, and dedication of our hard-working associates, and we are proud to honor them during our Summit,” said Kimberly Corwin, president of A. H. Harris. “Additionally, every day we benefit from our vendors who represent the best products in the construction industry, so that we can meet the needs of construction companies in our service area. We have a long history of being the best at what we do, primarily because of our strong relationships.  This expo is an important part of maintaining those relationships.”

Ken Lanoie, regional sales manager of commercial and industrial insulation for Owens-Corning, was enthused to attend the expo this year.  He has worked with Harris for more than 20 years and is consistently impressed by the company and its team.

“Harris truly treats its vendors like partners, all working for the same goal of end user satisfaction,” Lanoie said.  “This expo is a great example of that philosophy and is an exceptional opportunity for our industry.”

The first A. H. Harris Summit was hosted in 1987 and has been held biennially ever since.  The event typically follows a sports theme because of the many parallels between professional teams and the workplace.

Based in West Hartford., Conn., A.H. Harris (www.ahharris.com) has been serving the construction industry since 1916. With 40 locations in 11 eastern states, the company provides trusted products, service and support for the residential, commercial, industrial and heavy construction markets.
