Gander Mountain
When today’s aggressive retailers decide to build a new building, the want the work done fast. And tilt-up is filling the bill for many of these jobs. One impressive retail job completed in 1995 was the new Gander Mountain Sports facility in Swartz Creek, Michigan.
The contractor secured the building permit on June 17 and turned the keys over to Gander Mountain on September 14. The store’s grand opening October 6 was a retailer’s dream—right before the holiday shopping season.
The 33,000 square foot building has some noteworthy architectural features. The profile of a jagged mountain peak juts both upward and outward from the front corner entryway of the store. A combination of tilt-up and Dryvit were used to construct this unique feature.
Gander Mountain plans to build superstores in Ypsilanti and Taylor, Michigan and plans to use L.D. Clark and Tilt-Up for these additional facilities.
