Managing Principal at LJB Inc.

David TomasulaDavid Tomasula, P.E., is a practicing structural engineer and Managing Principal at LJB Inc., a 50-year old firm providing civil and structural engineering and environmental and safety services. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (B.S.C.E) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (M.S.C.E.). He has more than 20 years of experience designing commercial, industrial, institutional, recreational and office buildings throughout the United States and Canada, including extensive expertise in tilt-up design and construction.

Tomasula has contributed to the design of some of LJB’s most notable projects, including Inova Dry Creek Phase 1 (Centennial, CO), the first five-story tilt-up office building in Denver, and Daikin Industries (Waller, TX), the largest tilt-up building in the world at more than 4.1M square feet of floor area.  He served on the Tilt-Up Concrete Association Board of Directors for six years, including a term as President of the TCA.

A recognized expert on the topic of tilt-up design and construction, David has spoken to groups including EduCode 2005, the Oklahoma Structural Engineer’s Association, various offices of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the TCA’s annual convention, as well as individual architectural and construction firms.

About the TCA

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
