Curtis Owyang is an LPAS owner and the firm’s Director of Design. A Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, Curtis has a 35-year history of creating economical and sustainable design strategies for both public and private clients. Curtis has embraced tilt-up construction as a method of providing cost-effective solutions while still providing a high level of design. He has utilized tilt-up in several building types including office, higher education, retail and industrial.

Recent projects include the new LEED Gold California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation Headquarters in Elk Grove California, and the new Tehama County Courthouse in Red Bluff, California which will begin construction in December, 2014. Designated to be a demonstration project by the Administrative Office of the Courts, the courthouse’s combination of cost savings, durability, sustainability and ease of construction creates a new paradigm of cost-efficient and highly functional court construction in the State of California.

About the TCA

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
