Overview

Based on a new publication from the Tilt-Up Concrete Association titled “Engineering Tilt-Up” by Timothy W. Mays, Ph.D., P.E. and Joseph J. Steinbicker, P.E., S.E., this seminar will cover basic engineering principles and code interpretation as well as in depth analysis of a tilt-up structure and its components. The seminar will be presented by author Timothy Mays.

Who should attend?

Seasoned tilt-up engineers, licensed structural engineers interested in expanding into this quickly growing area, design-build contractors, and all engineers and engineering interns wanting to learn how to apply the 2012 IBC to low-rise reinforced concrete building systems will find this course very appealing.

Founded in 1986, the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) strives to improve the quality and acceptance of site-cast Tilt-Up construction, a method in which concrete wall panels are cast on-site and tilted into place. Tilt-Up construction is one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, combining the advantages of reasonable cost with low maintenance, durability, speed of construction and minimal capital investment. At least 10,000 buildings, enclosing more than 650 million square feet, are constructed each year using this construction method.
